Black and White Rainbow
Ljubljana, Slovenia, 1. february 2010
In the Small Gallery of Cankarjev Dom, at the end of last November, Benka opened her photo exhibition dedicated to Tibetan and Slovenian children. The display then traveled for a month to Maribor’s ‘Stolp’ photo gallery, where it certainly hasn’t seen its end. Due to the remarkable response and interest, the artist has created a smaller version of the exhibition (the original format is 8.2’ x 5.2’) titled Black and White Rainbow in Miniature, to be more easily displayed in smaller galleries.

Until the year’s end, you will be able to view the miniature exhibition in Murska Sobota, Lenart and Ptuj, while the large-scale exhibition will again be on display from February 10th until March 10th in Maribor’s Europark shopping center.

Black & White Rainbow is Benka’s most resonating project to date. In connection with the photo exhibition, a short documentary film is displayed, along with several hand painted Tibetan mandalas created by Atelje for a Quality Life (AngelskiAtelje.net), under the guidance of Snežana Divjak.

It is hoped the mandalas will bless a multitude Slovenian places, and the photographs will enrich numerous lives.
