| Benka With His Holiness the Dalai Lama | | Maribor, Slovenia, 7. april 2010 |  His Holiness Tenzin Gyatso the 14th Dalai Lama, spent a few days in Maribor speaking with students, the public and those politicians who really needed to hear about ethics and humanitarian values.
Before heading back to his busy schedule, the Dalai Lama spent some time with Benka, answering questions about Tibetan Children's Villages and the necessity of raising "universally responsible" youths. His Holiness's comments will be featured in the new docuementary movie Children of the White Lotus, set to be released in October 2010, in co-production with Slovenia National Television (RTS). Benka explained how her foundation Believe in Yourself & Kickstart the World raises funds for TCV, before His Holiness became the happy recipient of his own Believe in Yourself mala.
Snežena Divjak presented the Dalai Lama with a mandala she had spent over two years painting, all the while certain it would one day land in his hands. HIs Holiness graciously praised gift and asked her to pose with him for a photo. Proceeds from the sales of Ms. Divjak's mandalas support nearly 50 TCV students through Benka's foundation.
The final gift of the afternoon both came from, and returned to Maribor Mayor Franc Kangler, when he pledged to sponsor 10 children at TCV, and received a mandala from Benka's Black & White Rainbow exhibition. To make the memento even more special, Benka asked His Holiness to autograph the back. In the end, Mayor Kangler went home with an extraordinary reminder of the Dalai Lama's visit, and 10 more Tibetan children will benefit from an education.
